Our Mission

We are on a mission to enhance the lives of our patients through the use of properly designed and fit orthoses and prostheses.

We understand that each patient is unique and important regardless of abilities or disabilities.

We actively pursue and master all designs, technologies, and principles through proper education and training of caring, qualified staff who strive to build a personal long-term relationship with each patient.

We maintain open communication with all referral sources in order to develop a team approach to care.

We will never lose sight that our existence is dependent on the trust and results we achieve with our patients and referral sources.

About Great Steps

In the late 1990s, John Held, a Certified Orthotist from Central Minnesota began envisioning a locally owned Orthotic and Prosthetic company focused on quality patient care first and bottom line second. It was his belief that properly managing the complexities of patients, treating them as family, and maintaining proper communication with referral sources was the key to a successful medical practice. In 2000, John was able to fulfill his dream and Great Steps Orthotic & Prosthetic Solutions became incorporated into the start of the business you see today. Since then, we have been maximizing outcomes through the implementation of the newest technologies, thoughtful designs, ongoing education, and deliberate communication with patients, caregivers, and referral sources. This has allowed Great Steps to grow exponentially and for our patients to benefit from the highest quality of Orthotic and Prosthetic care available.

Serving our Community and Beyond

While Great Steps started to fulfill the needs of the Central Minnesota community, we know our reach extends far beyond that of our own backyard. We view all patients, large or small, high functioning or high challenge, equally important and deserving of proper care.

To ensure every community member receives the best care, we maintain a healthy outreach program throughout Central Minnesota and other areas of the state that don’t have large enough populations to allow for full-time facilities. These partnerships with local communities, businesses, and the many professionals and collegiate sports teams we work with are at the heart of Great Steps Orthotic & Prosthetics.

We are here to serve you.

Where Great Things Happen

In 2006, Great Steps had outgrown its original operation and moved into a new state-of-the-art facility in Sartell, Minnesota. Three years later, due to immense growth, we were able to bring on more staff and expand even further to create a one-of-a-kind clinical space for our patients spanning roughly 10,000 sq. ft. of property in the heart of Central Minnesota.

Step into Our World

Our clinical area was designed for patient comfort and portrays a non-sterile, non-medical, family-friendly environment. It is our goal to ensure all patients are comfortable during every step of their experience with us. Right outside our doors, there is a large pond with wildlife, as well as a city-operated trail system that allows patients to test products in a real-world environment. You’ll feel right at home!

Utilizing the Latest in Orthotic and Prosthetic Technology

Behind the comfortable exterior, is the latest technology in Orthotic and Prosthetic care. Great Steps Orthotic and Prosthetic Solutions has two modern technical workshops on-site, including one for the fabrication of artificial limbs and one for fitting and adjusting individual appliances and orthopedic braces for patients. From start to finish, your Great Steps journey is done in-house to ensure unmatched quality & care.
