An Ankle-Foot-Orthosis is an orthopedic brace that begins under the foot and extends above the ankle but remains below the knee.  AFOs are used to restrict painful motion, control excessive motion, promote healing, support weak muscles, control muscle contractures, and assist wound healing. An AFO can be custom manufactured for a specific patient or pre-manufactured and adjusted to fit an individual.
