Cranial Remodeling Helmets

Cranial Remodeling Helmets are used for infants with Positional Plagiocephaly, otherwise known as a flat head syndrome. Positional Plagiocephaly is a disorder in which the back or one side of an infant’s head is flattened due to babies spending a lot of time on their backs. While this may seem scary for new parents, it is very common with 50% of infants experiencing it, and, thanks to modern technology, we can course-correct the issue early on. Cranial Remodeling Helmets are becoming increasingly popular and make a rather cute baby accessory!

Types of Positional Plagiocephaly

  • Deformational Plagiocephaly: The most common type of skull deformity in infants, typically noticed by caregivers around six to ten weeks of age.
  • Deformational Brachycephaly: Central occipital flattening and the head is excessively wide for its length.
  • Deformational Brachycephaly with Asymmetry: The shape of the head is disproportionately wide for its length and is also asymmetrical.
  • Deformational Scaphocephaly: Very elongated head shape that is excessively long for its width, may be accompanied by a prominent, bossed forehead.
